Trauma-Informed Practice

Develop an advanced understanding of trauma and its impact on individuals, families and communities. This interactive online course explores key trauma theories, including developmental, relational, neurobiological, somatic and socio-cultural perspectives, and examines how these inform trauma-informed care across healthcare, education and community settings.

Through discussion, experiential activities and practical application, participants will explore the core principles of trauma-informed practice, including safety, choice, collaboration, empowerment and cultural humility. The course also considers presentations such as PTSD and CPTSD, strategies for maintaining psychological safety, and approaches to preventing vicarious trauma and burnout.
